Welcome
to Hendon Music Society's 50th Season of concerts.
Our new season features a set of artists of quite outstanding
excellence. Please consider taking out a subscription for all six evening
concerts. As this costs the same as buying single tickets for only four
concerts it offers exceptional value for money.
Our former Chairman, Sophie Prett, provided invaluable help with putting
together the new programme, and our fellow committee members and other
helpers have provided untiring support. But, as always, we need more pairs of
hands to help at the concerts, whether with refreshments, selling raffle tickets
or at the door.
A generous sponsor has enabled us to increase the number of family concerts
from two to three, now to be known as the Richard Toeman Family Concerts,
in memory of the late Chairman of music publishers Josef Weinberger Ltd and
prominent supporter of the performing arts. The concerts give you the
opportunity to introduce your children and grandchildren to the exciting side
of live classical music, performed and presented by talented young musicians.
We shall be holding another social event on 14 December at which
HMS members and supporters and their friends will have the chance of
playing to an audience. To encourage wider participation than last
year, we shall not restrict it to subscribing members. Invitations with
further details will be sent out in the autumn.
We shall enjoy continuing sponsorship from Steinway & Sons and Cavatina
Chamber Music Trust. The Gramophone is again offering an annual
subscription for our prize draw, to be held at the last concert of the season.
And Les Aldrich Music Shop (98 Fortis Green Road, Muswell Hill) will continue
to offer HMS subscribers a 10% discount on sheet music, CDs and other
products. We are most grateful to all of them.
This season will serve as an exciting run-up to the Society's Golden Jubilee in
the autumn of 2009. We are counting on your support to make it something
special.
